Abstract

Nowadays TV, surpassed Spanish market liberalization in the 90's, and in a process of TV licenses expansion due to the digitalization of the service, television has multiplied the offer in benefit of the viewer. But, the increase in audiovisual shows and programs has not grown even to the quality of television content broadcasting.
Media groups and broadcasters justify their product based on audience criteria and, so on, the actual demand of the audience. However, is it really so? Is the audience who decides which content is programmed, or it adapts to tender issued?. The objective of this work is to approach the concept of the choice of the audience from the proposed television programming, from a theoretical perspective.

Xabier Martínez-Rolán, University of Vigo

Doctor in Communication from the University of Vigo (2016) develops his professional career in the field of online communication and digital marketing. After his first jobs in the field of communication in traditional media, he has been part of the production team of several radio and television programs, and since 2009 he is a freelancer for online communication management; mainly on social media and web content management platforms. He is also an associate professor in the Department of Audiovisual Communication and Advertising at the University of Vigo, where he teaches subjects related to mobile applications (degree in Audiovisual Communication), alternative communication and online marketing (degree in Advertising and Public Relations). His research areas, Along with work, they focus on online communication and mobility, new advertising formats and virtual communities.
