The crisis resulting from the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic has rekindled, not only in Spain but also worldwide, the debate that has been raging since the beginning of the economic crisis in 2008 on the need for publics to trust organisations. Trust, of course, in public institutions, but also in the companies and private entities with which they relate, so that this issue, trust between organisations and their publics, is the central element of any effective communication strategy today. This, together with the crisis of trust in advertising and even in the information disseminated by the traditional and digital media, fundamentally derived from fake news and disinformation, makes Public Relations emerge as the academic and professional discipline with the greatest potential for growth in order to generate stable and effective communication between organisations and publics.

The Revista de Ciencias de la Comunicación e Información calls in this issue for the submission of articles that analyse, both from the point of view of professional practice and purely academic research, the creation of relationships of trust with the public through the use of strategies and techniques of Public Relations, both in the public and private spheres.

Keywords: public relations, trust, publics, crisis, advertising, misinformation.
